Pink Waterlilies

Waterlilies are bursting from ponds across the country and today I'm honoring pink waterlilies in particular. July is National Water Gardening Month so if you've been tempted to grow some of these beauties but don't have a pond yet ... this month would be a great time to make your water garden wish come true.

So much beauty resides in this spectacular, aquatic plant. The emerging bud with its hint of pink surprise inside brings you back time and again to check on its bloom.

Pink striations paint a dainty air on the pearly white petals of this waterlily, while beads of water dance across the leaves.

Glimpses of colorful koi provide delight beneath the leaves of these stunning flowers. Not only do the lilypads provide needed shade, but also protection from predators like heron, searching for lunch.

A classic beauty with rounded petals and dots of lime green scattered across the leaves.

A mass grouping of pink waterlilies steals the show from the soothing waterfalls in the background.

The magnificent Victorian waterlily. You may have seen a baby or two floating on the regal leaves.

A friendly frog pops in for a rest and a bit of sun on a lilypad. Oh, if only we were light enough to float on the leaves of a waterlily.

Rich, green leaves make this waterlily pop. Do you see its subtle reflection in the water?

A beautiful bud creates hopeful anticipation of the view that's yet to come. Don't forget to celebrate National Water Gardening Month during July! Check your local events ... there just might be a Pond Tour in your area where you can view waterlilies like this, up-close and personal.

In honor of pink waterlilies everywhere, I'm linking up with How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.

Your water lilies are beautiful! I recently profiled pink waterlilies form the Brooklyn Botanic garden's Lily pond on my blog. I love seeing them bloom every year! Happy Pink Saturday!

National Water Gardening Month - who knew!? There are a number of lakes and ponds here in SWFL that have water lilies. I've never seen a pink one though. Yours are very pretty. Happy 4th of July and PS!

They are stunning, full, and so inviting. I am going to sit here for a while and ponder their beauty...
